-WHAT?

The General Assembly is a regular meeting where all doctoral students are invited to participate, voice their opinions and propose issues to be discussed.

The General Assembly decides the standing of the Graduate Council on political topics and elects the Graduate Council Board.

-WHAT DOES THE GRADUATE COUNCIL BOARD DO?

  • First and foremost, it is our motivation to bring all doctoral students together, to offer our representatives in the Senate, the Faculty Councils and the different Committees a platform to inform their fellow doctoral candidates about news and discussions, and to offer others the opportunity to raise new issues and questions. You might have heard of our monthly PREM meetings.
  • We have a monthly jour fix with the Graduate Academy during which we discuss issues that concern doctoral candidates at Hohenheim.
  • We find and support candidates during the elections for the Senate and Faculty Councils, so that we as doctoral candidates have a voice in these committees.
  • We (co-)organize fun social activities to bring doctoral candidates at the university together like the PhD Welcome Week, PhD lunches, PhD TMS, etc.
  • Some less obvious but very important tasks like updating our website, keeping track of emails…

-HOW?
The agenda of the upcoming meeting is

  1. Welcome week: Wrap-up of the welcome week
  2. Elections: Every year, a new Graduate Council Board is elected consisting of 6 board members which represent all faculties. Anyone who is a doctoral student at the University can be elected.
  3. Meeting with the rector on 4th of December
  4. Other: Other topics to be discussed.

We are looking forward to seeing you there, so join us! Not only can you join our General Assembly and participate in electing the new board members, you can also take an official position in the Graduate Council Board yourself! In this way, you contribute to improve our everyday life at Hohenheim. You will learn how the self-administration of our university works and boost your professional development in areas like public speaking, negotiation, conflict management and many more.

-HANG OUT!

After our General Assembly, let’s enjoy a more informal get-together taking place at the “Denkbar” at the university.

We will send you a reminder a few days before the meeting takes place. Until then, we are looking forward to meeting you.

Please don't hesitate to contact us for further questions!

Your Graduate Council Board Antti, Sabine and Karlotta
